Feb 24, It's a movie based on a game so it will never be good anyway. In that respect then, it features a cast that is too good, and a thoroughly confusing plot.
Given Ubi Soft and their involvement, a broken and unfinished product is something they are fantastic at giving us and this film doesn't disappoint in that regard.

The Wilds. Call My Agent! Kurzel started his career in Australia by making Snowtown , one of the most brutal crime dramas ever committed to film.
The disappointing Macbeth , which featured Fassbender and Cotillard, followed and pointlessly utilised slow-motion action scenes and orange colour filters.
Kurzel has now gone out of his way to design Creed like a piece of software on a computer. One example is the use of establishment shots during the desert scenes; the camera pans and zooms around and towards the terrain at such velocity that we become all too aware of the cinematic artifice.
Additionally, the action scenes are slashed into a hurried blur of kicks and punches and people leaping between buildings in slow-motion. It might be inside the Animus machine but if nothing feels grounded or real, what do we latch onto?
The ancient scenes use sand and dust as muddy colour filters and the Animus prison is merely a drab, colourless cellblock, leaving nothing to please the eye.
Creed is also populated by characters who have no right to look at you let alone take up two hours of your time. Sophia Rikkin Cotillard. Quite how the company Abstergo owned by her father Alan Rikkin Irons managed to extricate Cal from Death Row in America is never explained.
When it becomes clear that Cal is the last descendant of the Assassins brotherhood, the Rikkins want to plug back into the ancestral memories lodged in his DNA.
As Aguilar runs, jumps, fights and climbs, so Cal does the same — becoming stronger and more agile as he is manoeuvred around the lab by a giant pincer.
Returning to the 15th Century, where Aguilar and his fellow Assassins are looking for the Apple amid a story that involves the young Prince of Granada, the Spanish Inquisition and the burning of religious heretics, Kurzel captures the feel of the games impressively.

Williams eagerly awaits a good line or two? He never gets one. If anybody had a spark of inspiration when they made "Assassin's Creed," it certainly doesn't show.
There's a prisoner named Cal Lynch Michael Fassbender and he lives in the not-too-distant future. He's sentenced to death and then abducted by a shadowy group The Templars that want Cal because of his, uh, DNA.
This information is useful to the Templars because apparently they need information to find the location of the Apple of Eden, a device not a fruit that can be used to eliminate human free will.
Also, Cal's ancestor is a member of a counter-revolutionary group called the Assassin's Creed, a group of killers who opposed the Templars' dogmatic quest to dominate the world by hiding the Apple from thAssassin's Creed is a tragedy. So much talent was involved, and clearly, plenty of hard work went into it. A few times, Kurzel's pictorial virtuosity is allowed to shine through the weary and trite plot, but for the most part, it is suppressed by how vapid and incomplete everything else is. It is a pity.
